New hearing aids using butterfly amplifiers and microelectronics provided more power in an even smaller package.

This type of hearing aid was made technically possible by a newly designed amplifier based on butterfly circuit technology. Its two printed circuit boards accommodating the electronic components could be folded out and back in again like a set of wings.

This folding effect combined with the special components used permitted an ideal use of space.
